Our Commitment

Sew Xsan is a small handmade business committed to respecting both people and the planet. Sustainability and ethical working practices are central to how we design, make, and sell our products. We aim to reduce waste, make thoughtful material choices, and operate responsibly within our means.

Environmental Sustainability

We prioritise the use of recycled, reworked, repurposed, and deadstock fabrics wherever possible, helping to reduce textile waste and give materials a second life. In some cases, new fabrics are used for linings to ensure durability, cleanliness, and product quality. All items are handmade in small batches, with designs planned carefully to minimise waste.

Some components, such as zips, clasps, and hardware, are purchased new when suitable recycled options are not available. Wherever possible, we aim to use UK-based suppliers to reduce transport impact and support local businesses. Packaging is kept to a minimum, reused where possible, and made from recyclable or recycled materials. Fabric scraps are reused, repurposed, or recycled, and energy and water use in our workspace is kept as low as reasonably possible.

Human Rights & Ethical Practices

All Sew Xsan products are made by the business owner in a safe, fair, and respectful working environment. We do not use child labour, forced labour, or exploitative working practices. Where materials or components are sourced externally, we aim to use reputable suppliers and make responsible purchasing choices. We respect the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of everyone involved in the creation of our products.

Review & Responsibility

Responsibility for this policy sits with the business owner. The policy is reviewed regularly and updated as the business grows, or as more sustainable and ethical options become available.
